A Review of the Pfaff Embroidery Machine

!: A Review of the Pfaff Embroidery Machine

The Pfaff embroidery machine I would like to review here is the Creative 2144, this is a combination sewing and embroidery machine.

Pfaff have made this machine very easy to use both for sewing and embroidery, in fact the embroidery has been made very user friendly.

I am not going to pretend that this machine is all singing all dancing, but it does have plenty of options for the user and what they provide is very efficient.

There is the ability to resize any design you choose, you can make it bigger or you can make it smaller by around 20%. It doesn't have to be fixed in one place you can move it around. You can alter it by adding parts of another design or adding letters etc. You can make a mirror image and you can rotate it and repeat it.

The instructions tell you how you can combine different designs within the same hoop area and also how to do this by moving the hoop. If you wanted a continuous line of any design you would have to move your hoop to allow this.

The Pfaff embroidery machine allows you to use any design as a multi-hoop design irrespective of which hoop you are using.

A very helpful instruction is information on what kind of stabilizer you should use for different fabrics. This takes all the guesswork away.

You get information on how to fix your hoop properly to your fabric and how you can sew leather and avoid making any marks.

The Creative 2144 very helpfully has a separate motor for bobbin winding, so you can carry on embroidering your design while you are filling another bobbin.

There is a warning light to tell you that the bobbin is running out so make sure this is always turned on because if not the machine will carry on with the design without any thread. This is not the easiest situation to sort out.

If this happens, one way of returning to the point where the thread ran out is to enter the exact stitch number that you want to return to. To find this exact stitch you might have to enter a few until you find the correct one. If you get fairly near you can use your forward and backwards button to return the machine to the exact place. As I said, not easy but it can be done.

The best solution is not to let this happen in the first place!

The Pfaff embroidery machine is simplicity itself, but should you require more features than are inbuilt then you may want to think about purchasing software which costs extra but would give you other functions such as selecting colors from many many thread manufacturers plus other functions.

The hoops you are supplied with as standard are a large 140mm x 225mm and a small 80mm x 80mm including an adapter.

Pfaff supply other hoops for you to add to your accessories such as a medium round hoop, one for embroidering on baseball caps, plus many buttonhole hoops. With this little lot there really wouldn't be much that you couldn't embroider if you wished.

You can buy designs from Pfaff for as little as which sets them apart from other machine manufacturers. Pfaff have a good system whereby you can choose to just buy one design or a whole book.

The Pfaff embroidery machine Creative 2144 is so simple to learn that before you have done much at all you will feel confident to tackle any project.

One downside is the fact that you don't have any sort of timer to tell you how much longer a design will take. Also, the thread colors that you see on the screen are not exact, they are just generic.

If you wanted to see what a design would look like using colors other than those recommended it could be difficult to visualize.

Overall a very functional machine and I would say very good for someone just beginning to try machine embroidery.

Quick Machine Embroidery Projects For Kids

!: Quick Machine Embroidery Projects For Kids

Machine embroidery for kids is a dying art, although there are so many project possibilities they would enjoy. Part of the decline has to do with the fact that traditional embroidery is completed by hand and limited to a few designs with varying degrees of difficulty. With the increased technology advances in embroidery, machines give a broader range of design capabilities as well as faster results. Initially excited, the investment in machine embroidery seemed fun and full of possibilities with hopes of creating projects that kids would absolutely love. Over time the machine felt useless, turning knobs and touching buttons without producing any real results. If out of ideas on what to make with machine embroidery, try one of these simple projects that kids love!

Every year kids bring home new books to be covered the first day of school in most areas. As a kid, you may have used brown paper bags or Kraft paper, but the new hip fad is the expensive stretch covers that can be purchased at your local school supply store. With a little time, you can make fabric covers for all books, using fabrics that are kid-friendly. The easiest method for measuring your covers would be to fold the fabric around the book and inside the cover as one would with craft paper. Using pins, place where necessary to keep it together; Hem all edges and finish basic shape of cover so that it can easily be slipped onto books. This is a plain cover, but can be taken a step further. Using machine embroidery, books can be decorated with embroidered images and even the subject and your child's name. With subjects like math, reading, and social studies, the combinations are seemingly endless!

Children love to see their names on things, which is why it can be found all over the place, like on the walls, important work presentations, and even jeans. One of the most satisfying displays of ownership is their names on their door. Opened or closed, children know that this particular space in the house is theirs, where they can be themselves or the place where they are banished when in trouble. Using machine embroidery, you can stitch names as well as machine embroidered designs that fit their personalities for a quick project. Framing this fabric will give an extra touch, and you can hang it directly by a nail on the door or use a ribbon attached to the back for flair. Using different shapes and colors of frames for each child will give unique variety. For a more challenging project, use small hand-size frames to design one machine embroidery design letter in each and hang in different ways.

While lamination is a great option to preserve family memories such as letters or family portraits, using machine embroidery design gives the flexibility to be more involved in the process. First, trace the image onto freezer paper, then iron until the paper is attached to fabric. Use an embroidery machine to embroider over lines, being as careful as you would with any other project, changing colors as necessary. Or you can choose suitable embroidery designs for kids from a large online store. After you have completed these steps, remove your freezer paper to reveal your memory! This item can now be framed or if they are notes, stories, or letters, you can bind them for a special gift!

Embroidery Machines

!: Embroidery Machines

Embroidery has been a popular form of commercial venture and leisure pursuit that allows us to customize and personalize our garments and belongings to suit our taste, fashion and inclination. It is the art or handicraft of creating or decorating a design on a piece of fabric or other similar materials with ornamental needlework. It is done either by using a manual sewing machine or a specially designed, Computerized embroidery machine.

Modern, Computerized machines have made embroidery more intricate and complex. With their ease and less cost, the use of the manual machines is falling out of good turn. A portable unit may be less than 30 inches in width and 180 pounds in weight. Some operate quietly and won't disturb any conversation or your neighbors' sleep.

The thread commonly used is polyester or rayon. It weighs about 40wt. Like any sewing machine, the embroidery machine has a bobbin and a spool placed inside the hook to form the stitches. Other non-woven textiles, like the backing and stabilizer, are added to provide support and stability to the material during stitching, which lead to a more enhanced outcome. Embroidery machines also perform different stitches such as the fill, running, satin and underlay stitches.

With these high-tech machines, you can choose your own design and add lettering or dates to an event. Once the design is entered into the machine, you can adjust its size to fit into the garment. Then the Computer transfers the design to the machine for stitching.

If you're new to embroidery, you can take classes where you will learn the proper hooping caps, placement techniques, selecting of the appropriate needle for the material, correct adjustment and threading of the machine, operating the control panel and software and other related tasks. You will also learn that the material and thread type, quantity, design quality and size are the factors that affect the cost and time of the embroidery work.
